Increasingly more than just a functional wall, architects and landscape designers are using retaining wall systems as an attractive and long lasting feature wall in outdoor projects.
The Besser Block Centre has two solutions for constructing retaining walls from masonry.
The first solution uses concrete besser blocks installed on a concrete footing and then core-filling the blocks with concrete. The use of a Standard Grey besser block and/or textured or sandstone faced blocks would be used in this solution.
The second solution uses one of many choices of dry-stacked retaining wall systems, where interlocking blocks are dry-stacked one on top of each other to form the wall.
The finished height of the wall is critical when selecting the right retaining wall system. We strongly recommend that an engineer’s design by used for any retaining wall project. Most Councils require an engineer’s design for walls over a certain height and we recommend that you consult your local Council for their requirements.
Besser Block Centre’s manufacturers, Baines Masonry, GB Masonry and Boral, have various products that are very similar to each other, both in function and design. Immediately below we have grouped these products under the heading of their most commonly referred to names, however, if you have difficulty obtaining information on a particular block from a particular manufacturer please contact us for obligation free assistance and advice.
